My Favorite Toy

Since I can't think of anything more important to blog about today, I thought I'd do a "show-and-tell".

This is my favorite toy.

Brent gave it to me for Christmas the year before last.

What is it? I'll tell you. It is a Garmin Forerunner. What's that? I'll tell you. It is a GPS system designed especially for runners. This over-sized wristwatch keeps track of the miles I run, how fast I am running at any given time (pace), my total time for the run, how many minutes it took to run each individual mile, calories burned, elevation gained and lost, and maps of where I've been, as well as the current time. I can plug this thing into the computer and see all my data on a screen big enough to actually read. This baby is always on my wrist when I'm out pounding the pavement. I would feel naked without it.

Parade

Brittany decided to join the marching band this year. She plays the marimba. The band participates in a lot of parades and marched in the River Heights parade last Saturday. I thought Maya would enjoy the parade so she and I went and watched Brittany. Since the pit section cannot march with their instruments, they hold the shields and march in front of the rest of the band. Brittany is the last on on the right, holding the "T".

New House

We are building a new house!  This project has been in the works for a long time and we chose to keep it a secret until "Dig Day" because of how frustrating the process has been.  We began this adventure in February 2013 when we found the "lot of our dreams".  This piece of land was perfect.  Perfect location (in Providence), perfect size (0.96 acre), perfect orientation (house will face west).   The development process was long and difficult.  Providence City is not easy to work with.  Their requirements are extensive and often times ridiculous and unnecessary.  We've jumped through all kinds of hoops to get to where we are. We are building with Mt. Sterling Custom Homes.  They have a great reputation for designing and building high quality homes.  I had found a house plan that I really liked, had done some tweaking myself, then took it in to Mt.
