Cobbage and Earthquacks

A couple of months ago, we had steamed cabbage with dinner. It was the kids first exposure to this vegetable, and of course, the girls complained and whined, but did manage to choke it down because at our house, you either eat it or go hungry. I expected the same reaction from Damon and was surprised that he had no complaints; he ate it and went on his way. A couple of weeks ago, out of the blue, Damon asked me to please put "cobbage" on the shopping list because "I love it!"

Last night at dinner, Brittany was saying how she would crawl under the table if there were an earthquake. Damon asked, "What's an earthquack?"

LOL1 that is too stink'n cute, and what a brave mom for even daring to serve "cobbage" for dinner.. I think my kids would have started a rebellion against me if even tried that.. and right now I'm out numbered.. so I better wait till I have the brute squade back on duty!

Parade

Brittany decided to join the marching band this year. She plays the marimba. The band participates in a lot of parades and marched in the River Heights parade last Saturday. I thought Maya would enjoy the parade so she and I went and watched Brittany. Since the pit section cannot march with their instruments, they hold the shields and march in front of the rest of the band. Brittany is the last on on the right, holding the "T".

New House

We are building a new house!  This project has been in the works for a long time and we chose to keep it a secret until "Dig Day" because of how frustrating the process has been.  We began this adventure in February 2013 when we found the "lot of our dreams".  This piece of land was perfect.  Perfect location (in Providence), perfect size (0.96 acre), perfect orientation (house will face west).   The development process was long and difficult.  Providence City is not easy to work with.  Their requirements are extensive and often times ridiculous and unnecessary.  We've jumped through all kinds of hoops to get to where we are. We are building with Mt. Sterling Custom Homes.  They have a great reputation for designing and building high quality homes.  I had found a house plan that I really liked, had done some tweaking myself, then took it in to Mt.
