Haircuts

Yesterday was haircut day for Brooklyn and Damon. Brooklyn has the hardest time brushing her hair, I think it's mostly laziness. I'm constantly getting after her to run a brush through it. Yesterday was Thursday and she hadn't combed her hair since Sunday. Earlier in the week I told her I was sick and tired of it and we were going to go get it cut. There were tears and complaints but I didn't care. Since she had a few days to think about it and get used to the idea, it really wasn't that traumatic. She actually really likes her new look.














Damon was a little past due for a haircut and with the warm weather coming (I hope), we decided it was just time for the buzz. Of course, Brent has to have a little fun when he buzzes Damon's hair.

Parade

Brittany decided to join the marching band this year. She plays the marimba. The band participates in a lot of parades and marched in the River Heights parade last Saturday. I thought Maya would enjoy the parade so she and I went and watched Brittany. Since the pit section cannot march with their instruments, they hold the shields and march in front of the rest of the band. Brittany is the last on on the right, holding the "T".

New House

We are building a new house!  This project has been in the works for a long time and we chose to keep it a secret until "Dig Day" because of how frustrating the process has been.  We began this adventure in February 2013 when we found the "lot of our dreams".  This piece of land was perfect.  Perfect location (in Providence), perfect size (0.96 acre), perfect orientation (house will face west).   The development process was long and difficult.  Providence City is not easy to work with.  Their requirements are extensive and often times ridiculous and unnecessary.  We've jumped through all kinds of hoops to get to where we are. We are building with Mt. Sterling Custom Homes.  They have a great reputation for designing and building high quality homes.  I had found a house plan that I really liked, had done some tweaking myself, then took it in to Mt.
