Quotes From the Kids

Last Friday Brooklyn ran some errands with me. On our way home from Logan and after a few minutes of listening to a song on the radio, Brooky said, "This guy doesn't know how to sing very good." I asked her why she thought that and she said, "He holds his notes too long....and his voice is way too high." Well, considering the millions of records Garth Brooks has sold, he must know a thing or two about singing.

Later that same day we loaded everyone up in the car and headed to see the newest "Chronicles of Narnia" movie. On our way down the street Brooklyn called out, "Deer!" (I can't understand why my kids get so excited over seeing deer. They're all over the place in our neck of the woods this time of year.) Damon said, "Oh! I thought those were cows!"

Parade

Brittany decided to join the marching band this year. She plays the marimba. The band participates in a lot of parades and marched in the River Heights parade last Saturday. I thought Maya would enjoy the parade so she and I went and watched Brittany. Since the pit section cannot march with their instruments, they hold the shields and march in front of the rest of the band. Brittany is the last on on the right, holding the "T".

New House

We are building a new house!  This project has been in the works for a long time and we chose to keep it a secret until "Dig Day" because of how frustrating the process has been.  We began this adventure in February 2013 when we found the "lot of our dreams".  This piece of land was perfect.  Perfect location (in Providence), perfect size (0.96 acre), perfect orientation (house will face west).   The development process was long and difficult.  Providence City is not easy to work with.  Their requirements are extensive and often times ridiculous and unnecessary.  We've jumped through all kinds of hoops to get to where we are. We are building with Mt. Sterling Custom Homes.  They have a great reputation for designing and building high quality homes.  I had found a house plan that I really liked, had done some tweaking myself, then took it in to Mt.
