We Missed the Flight

On Sunday the bishop announced that the angel Moroni would be placed atop the Brigham City temple this week and any interested could go watch the angel fly. I was in charge of playing the organ for Sacrament meeting and was a bit preoccupied with my presets and stops and was only half listening to the announcements. Damon said he wanted to go see the angel and thought the bishop had said Tuesday at noon. I was pretty sure I'd heard Wednesday at noon and Brooky thought it was Wednesday at 11:00.

Since I'm the mom, and since moms are always right (ahem), I told Damon we'd go see the angel on Wednesday. Damon reminded me about the event this morning and we made plans to leave around 11, stop at Maverick for drinks and cookies and head over to Brigham.

As we came out of the canyon and drove toward Main Street and the temple came into view , I saw the angel already standing in his spot. I very apologetically told the kids we'd missed Moroni's flight. Brooky was sure we'd only missed it by an hour and she wasn't too upset. Damon, however, was devastated. I felt so bad. I should have checked the date.

We stopped and took a few pictures and then decided to go find a park and play for a while. As per usual, Brittany opted not to join us on our adventure.

What a pretty Temple!! How fun to have two Temples so close bye now. Sorry Dameon missed it. Maybe you can make up for it when you go to the open house!

If it makes you feel any better, they delayed putting Moroni up for a few hours because of rain and high winds. And I heard there were thousands of people there, so it would have been a pretty miserable time. Still sad that he was so excited to see it and wasn't able to though.

Parade

Brittany decided to join the marching band this year. She plays the marimba. The band participates in a lot of parades and marched in the River Heights parade last Saturday. I thought Maya would enjoy the parade so she and I went and watched Brittany. Since the pit section cannot march with their instruments, they hold the shields and march in front of the rest of the band. Brittany is the last on on the right, holding the "T".

New House

We are building a new house!  This project has been in the works for a long time and we chose to keep it a secret until "Dig Day" because of how frustrating the process has been.  We began this adventure in February 2013 when we found the "lot of our dreams".  This piece of land was perfect.  Perfect location (in Providence), perfect size (0.96 acre), perfect orientation (house will face west).   The development process was long and difficult.  Providence City is not easy to work with.  Their requirements are extensive and often times ridiculous and unnecessary.  We've jumped through all kinds of hoops to get to where we are. We are building with Mt. Sterling Custom Homes.  They have a great reputation for designing and building high quality homes.  I had found a house plan that I really liked, had done some tweaking myself, then took it in to Mt.
