Brittany's Biography

Brittany was given a large writing assignment at school; one part of the assignment was to have someone write her biography.  She asked me to do it and I thought I'd copy and paste it here.  Just for fun.

Brittany Suisse was born August 8, 1999 in Ogden, Utah.  She is the oldest of four children and has two sisters, one brother and a dog she doesn’t like very much.  She is currently in the eighth grade at South Cache Junior High.

Brittany demonstrated a strong personality from an early age; she was very determined and even stubborn at times.  Brittany’s language skills developed early and quickly.  She began speaking in sentences shortly after her first birthday and recognized many of her colors by the time she was eighteen months old.

Brittany spent her first two years living in South Ogden, Utah.  Her family then moved to Halifax, Nova Scotia Canada where her dad attended dental school at Dalhousie University.  It was during this jaunt in east-coast Canada, when Brittany was four years old, that she was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes.  This was a difficult time and the early days after diagnosis were very challenging for Brittany, as she did not understand why her fingers needed to be poked several times a day and why she suddenly had to have injections before meals.  However, Brittany adapted well and swift.  After the first week, she was poking her own fingers to test her blood sugar.

Brittany got off to a rocky start with school.  She seemed to struggle a bit socially and sometimes didn’t agree with the teacher’s instructions.  This phase passed quickly and Brittany grew to love school and became an excellent student.  Her love of reading began to show in first grade and her literacy skills sky-rocketed.  By the middle of first grade Brittany could read at a fifth-grade reading level and her school teacher and parents struggled to find age-appropriate books at such an advanced level.  Brittany maintains the ability to read at nearly the speed of light and one can find it difficult to keep up with her during family scripture study.

If reading was Brittany’s first love, piano must be her second.  She began piano lessons at age nine and excelled rapidly.  It wasn’t long before Brittany was playing at levels advanced enough for performances.  She looks forward to recitals and opportunities to play in church, at school, and for her friends and family.

Brittany continues to be an excellent student and a fairly responsible teenager, at least as responsible as 13-year olds can be.  She is a good example to others, a good friend, and a good babysitter, but not a very good pet-sitter.

Brittany currently resides with her family and the family dog in Providence, Utah and can often be found with her nose in a book or sleeping.

What I remember most about Brittany is that she used to scoot on her but instead of crawl when she was a baby. She was so spunky back then.
