Christmas 2012

Our Christmas festivities started just as they have the past few years.  Christmas Eve day we loaded everybody up and headed to the store to spend a ridiculous amount of money on junk food.  It didn't take very long and everyone got what they wanted.  We spent the rest of the day waiting for dinnertime.  It's what we all look forward to the most on Christmas Eve.  We set up our food table in the family room and watched The Santa Claus while we ate.



 After the movie, we read our new Christmas book, The Christmas Train by Thomas S. Monson and then the kids headed to bed.  But not before we had Damon do some serious exercising in an attempt to burn off some excited energy.

Christmas started at about 9:00 Christmas morning.  I didn't take many pictures, especially not any of anyone except Maya.

Parade

Brittany decided to join the marching band this year. She plays the marimba. The band participates in a lot of parades and marched in the River Heights parade last Saturday. I thought Maya would enjoy the parade so she and I went and watched Brittany. Since the pit section cannot march with their instruments, they hold the shields and march in front of the rest of the band. Brittany is the last on on the right, holding the "T".

New House

We are building a new house!  This project has been in the works for a long time and we chose to keep it a secret until "Dig Day" because of how frustrating the process has been.  We began this adventure in February 2013 when we found the "lot of our dreams".  This piece of land was perfect.  Perfect location (in Providence), perfect size (0.96 acre), perfect orientation (house will face west).   The development process was long and difficult.  Providence City is not easy to work with.  Their requirements are extensive and often times ridiculous and unnecessary.  We've jumped through all kinds of hoops to get to where we are. We are building with Mt. Sterling Custom Homes.  They have a great reputation for designing and building high quality homes.  I had found a house plan that I really liked, had done some tweaking myself, then took it in to Mt.
