Brooklyn's 12th

Brooklyn was excited to turn 12 this year and was looking forward to beginning Young Women's. She chose to keep her birthday pretty low-key this year. She opted for a chocolate chip cookie dough and ice cream cake. Her mother failed to purchase birthday candles, hence the Sparklers on the the cake and the outdoor pictures. Brooky also opted for $50 instead of having a party with friends. She spend a portion of the that money at a craft store buying some art supplies.


Brittany decorated the hall and doorway to Brooky's room so she'd have an extra surprise when she awoke that morning.

Parade

Brittany decided to join the marching band this year. She plays the marimba. The band participates in a lot of parades and marched in the River Heights parade last Saturday. I thought Maya would enjoy the parade so she and I went and watched Brittany. Since the pit section cannot march with their instruments, they hold the shields and march in front of the rest of the band. Brittany is the last on on the right, holding the "T".

New House

We are building a new house!  This project has been in the works for a long time and we chose to keep it a secret until "Dig Day" because of how frustrating the process has been.  We began this adventure in February 2013 when we found the "lot of our dreams".  This piece of land was perfect.  Perfect location (in Providence), perfect size (0.96 acre), perfect orientation (house will face west).   The development process was long and difficult.  Providence City is not easy to work with.  Their requirements are extensive and often times ridiculous and unnecessary.  We've jumped through all kinds of hoops to get to where we are. We are building with Mt. Sterling Custom Homes.  They have a great reputation for designing and building high quality homes.  I had found a house plan that I really liked, had done some tweaking myself, then took it in to Mt.
